last day at school

yeah! our last day this year at school! we get out extra early today and have a party for the faculty and staff, so i'm thrilled to just be able to relax. seriously though, i work in a library! how taxing can that be?
afterwards, i'm going shopping with my friend, bonnie, and hope to finish up! that will feel best of all.
hoping anyone who reads this will have a merry christmas and great new year.

once a month

wow, i've posted at least once a month for the past few! new record!
am i feeling overwhelmed! i've had our "prelit" tree up for a week now, and i just finished replacing lights for the second year in a row! it's six years old this year, i think. ugh. my youngest was thrilled when he woke up this morning. we can finally decorate it tonight! he says, "yeah!", i say, "ugh".
friends over tomorrow. crazy day sunday, but that's okay. such is the season.

end of the week

yeah! three day weekend! our school has a fundraiser and we have a "clean up" day. i don't have to clean up, but i get the day off!
big plans: winterize outside (husband's idea), surprise party, craft show, church activities, work at the public library for a bit (always a joy), lunch with my mom, and a few other things. well, my three-day weekend will be busy, but i'll enjoy every bit of it!

october 1

wow, can you believe it's october 1st? where has the year gone? what have you done? have you accomplished anything amazing this year? or is there still time?

i finished the book, highway to hell, and found it very enjoyable. no vampires or zombies, but supernatural stuff. not saying i like vampire books, i couldn't get thru the first twilight book! it's just happens to be what teens are reading. we are moving on with new books, luckily. how many more vampire books can they write? okay, don't answer that!

have a few costumes to make. i'm going as julia child for halloween this year. should be interesting, i've even saved boxes of butter for my costume!

schoolz in

wow, back to work. ok, been back over a month now, but things are settling down. i get to put up the main bulletin board this year (how someone in the library got this job, i have no idea) but i have some great ideas! the first bulletin board was from wordle.net. i put the name of the school in large type and all the extra-curriculars around it. blew it up big time, and it looks awesome!
next month will be a wheel of fortune board. it's going to be so cool! crazy what some of us will get excited about.

currently reading Highway to Hell. interesting.

true blood

i've been watching the first season of true blood from hbo. wow, wierd is the only word i can think of!
vbs started today. i'm in charge of crafts, and i have to say, i loved today's flower pots we made! tomorrow are frogs. lots of cutting, which is difficult for the younger kids. oh well, we'll make the best of it!

coming to a close

i can't believe school is almost over! will i have more time to read or scrap? i have no idea, but i'm guessing no. i do have a few big jobs scheduled around the house. mostly just rearranging the kitchen, getting the things we don't use a lot into the basement pantry, cleaning out closets. ugh.
what do you have planned?

yardwork

is that one word or two? ugh. that's what we did this weekend. edged most of the beds, found several ant nests (major yuck, they bite), and mulched the beds i edged. my hands hurt from holding tools and cruching up soil. i've never been so glad as when i went to bed. i don't even think i hit the pillow. i dreamed of ants. ugh.

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

well, it certainly has been a while since i've posted, eh? well, life got in the way. four kids and too much to do! that's okay, they love it.
i've been trying to read a lot of teen fiction lately. i work in a catholic library, so we need to make sure the books don't have anything too, well, you know.
my favorite two books this year have been Stiff and The Big Necessity. i'm not one to read non-fiction, but for some reason i picked these up and found them to be full of things i never thought of. i've read about crap and dead bodies, what will i read next?
school will be out just in time for my favorite author's newest book, Finger Lickin' Fifteen by janet evanovich. she makes me laugh and we all need some laughter in our lives.
